Russia Preparing for Nuclear War. Is America On The Verge of World War III?

07:15:00

RUSSIA One a Russian TV station is reporting Russia is preparing for a Nuclear War
While you are distracted with Donald Trump eleven year old audio. Our leadership has been busily poking the Russian bear. Russia has been prepping for nuclear war- and perhaps you should too. The establishment GOP and the Left have joined forces to continue to demand that Trump drop out of the race blah blah blah. This is a deadly distraction. Let me explain:
Russia claims nuclear war could be imminent as it evacuates 40 MILLION people in drill and warns that ‘schizophrenics from America’ could attack.
Russia is building up their arms and placing nuclear capable missiles on the border near Lithuania and Poland. Don’t forget what he did with Crimea, where Ukraine officials believe Putin has already deployed them in that region. They have the capability to strike from any direction from an airbase in Iran near Hamadan.  I have  previously reported on the encounters between Russian planes and our planes and naval vessels And America is poking Russia with accusations of hacking, and suspending talks over Syria, and various other things which only make us seem like an enemy to Russia.
The Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters spokesman said: ‘The three-stage four-day drill involves more than 40 million people, more than 200,000 specialists of rescue units based in regions, organizations and enterprises, as well as some 50,000 units of equipment.

Management agencies and forces of the Emergency Ministry’s territorial bodies have been put on simulated high alert. Representatives of federal executive authorities, heads of regions, local governments and organizations are taking part in the massive drill.
‘Emergency Ministry’s forces and facilities are fully engaged, including rescue military divisions, rescue units, paramilitary mine rescue units and State Small Vessels Inspectorate, fire departments and aircraft.
‘The topic of the drill is Organization of civil defense during large natural and man-caused disasters in the Russian Federation.’  Russia’s accused bombing of Syria has been widely criticized, and the US this week suspended negotiations with leader Vladimir Putin.
Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov said: ‘Civil defense system solves a wide range of tasks related to protection of people, material and cultural values in each constituent territory of the Russian Federation.  ‘Modern approaches to foundation of control centers are being implemented, there is a set of automatized database forming systems, modeling of different threats and risks, satellite monitoring and forecasting system which uses Russian-made solutions and technologies.’
He added there would be a comprehensive approach to training experts and specialists able to work in crises. The minister noted that regions of Russia have enough material and other resources of civil defense to respond to large massive disasters swiftly and efficiently.
‘The Emergency Ministry, federal executive authorities and regions have material and other resources to ensure uninterrupted operation of transport, power supply and communication systems. ‘It has proven efficient in the past three years.  ‘We are restoring roads, building temporary bridges and handle many other problems. ‘During the drill we are going to inspect what was planned to be inspected and make suggestions on building-up the potential and areas of developing civil defense considering risks and threats, civil defense plans are going to be revised and suggestions will be made for summary rules of national standards.’
What? So I ask you; what does Russia know that we don’t know?

Anonymous warns that the Pentagon thinks World War III is ‘imminent’

07:02:00

World affairs have suddenly got rather alarming - with tensions rising between Russia and America simmering as the two nations clash over Syria.
Former leader Mikhail Gorbachev warned this week that the world had reached a ‘dangerous threshold’.
Against this background, hacktivist collective Anonymous has posted a series of alarming videos and news reports - with one suggesting that World War III is ‘imminent’.
But don’t grab your gas mask and head for your doomsday bunker quite yet - the Anon HQ report’s reference to the Pentagon believing that war is imminent isn’t quite as alarming as it sounds.
It’s a - fairly doom-laden - take on this Yahoo story in fact, and it doesn’t mean that nuclear war is about to begin right now.

MIT's shock-absorbing robots are safer and more precise

22:03:00

MIT CSAIL
Soft robots aren't just about speed and grace... they should be safer, too. To prove that point, MIT's CSAIL has developed bouncing robots whose 3D-printed soft skins act as shock absorbers. The technique revolves around printing a "programmable viscoelastic material" where every aspect of the skin (which includes solids, liquids and a rubber-like substance called TangoBlack+) is tuned to the right level of elasticity. The robot can give way where it needs to, but remain solid otherwise. As a result, it can bounce around without taking damage, and land four times more precisely than it would with an inflexible surface.
Moreover, the material is very practical. It's cheap and easy to find, and the 3D printing eliminates problems with customization. You only need a single print job to create the skin instead of a complicated, time-consuming engineering process.
The invention should primarily help with the durability and safety of robots, of course. You could see robot helpers that work alongside humans without fear of injury, and rescue robots that won't easily break if they fall. They would be more precise, as well, as an unexpected collision wouldn't throw them off. However, the material could be useful for all kinds of products. CSAIL envisions phones, helmets, and other impact-prone devices that would be that much better at surviving horrible blows.

Hacker claims to have jailbroken iPhone 7 in just 24 hours, but don’t expect it to be released

08:15:00

The iPhone 7 hit the market just a week ago, but hackers have already started work on attempting to jailbreak the device. As noted by Motherboard, one teenage hacker has already had success in jailbreaking the iPhone 7 running iOS 10. In fact, the 19-year-old developer, Luca Todesco, claims to have successfully done so in just 24 hours…

Speaking to Motherboard, Todesco explained that Apple definitely made the process harder with the iPhone 7, but noted that it’s not 100 percent secure yet. Todesco announced the jailbreak on his Twitter, simply saying “this is a jailbroken iPhone 7” and including a screenshot of terminal where he has root access. He also shared the below video to further prove the legitimacy of his claim, as well as a shot of the jailbreak app store Cydia running.

“Kudos for the iPhone 7. They have again changed the rules of the game,” he told me. “I don’t think it will ever be enough. They can raise the effort required, but there will always be someone willing to invest enough time to do it.”

Todesco doesn’t plan to release his jailbreak to the public until Apple patches it, though. He says that in the meantime, he will work to make the process simpler and cleaner.

Todesco said that, at least for now, he’s keeping the details of how he jailbroke the phone to himself—at least until Apple releases a patch. That’s the only choice he has, he added, given that Apple won’t give bug hunters special devices that allow them to load custom firmware.

“Being able to have access to the hardest target among mobile targets is very useful,” he said, explaining that having a jailbroken phone is useful to do live debugging and find even more bugs.

The concept of jailbreaking has somewhat waned in popularity over recent years, but it’s still a thriving community of developers. Earlier this year, developers successfully jailbroke iOS 9.3.3, but the vulnerability was patched relatively quickly by Apple and the company subsequently stopped signing that version of iOS.

With Apple already beta testing iOS 10.1, it’s likely that the update will path the vulnerability used by Todesco, though Todesco hasn’t decided if he will submit the vulnerability to Apple’s bounty program.

North Korea says US has crossed red line, declared war

20:51:00
North Korean soldiers turn and look towards leader Kim Jong Un as they carry packs marked with the nuclear symbol as they parade during a ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of the Korean War armistice in Pyongyang, North Korea On July 27, 2016.

PYONGYANG, North Korea — North Korea’s top diplomat for U.S. affairs told The Associated Press on Thursday that Washington “crossed the red line” and effectively declared war by putting leader Kim Jong Un on its list of sanctioned individuals, and said a vicious showdown could erupt if the U.S. and South Korea hold annual war games as planned next month.
Han Song Ryol, director-general of the U.S. affairs department at the North’s Foreign Ministry, said in an interview that recent U.S. actions have put the situation on the Korean Peninsula on a war footing.
The United States and South Korea regularly conduct joint military exercises south of the Demilitarized Zone, and Pyongyang typically responds to them with tough talk and threats of retaliation.
Han said North Korea believes the nature of the maneuvers has become openly aggressive because they reportedly now include training designed to prepare troops for the invasion of the North’s capital and “decapitation strikes” aimed at killing its top leadership.
Han says designating Kim himself for sanctions was the final straw.
“The Obama administration went so far to have the impudence to challenge the supreme dignity of the DPRK in order to get rid of its unfavorable position during the political and military showdown with the DPRK,” Han said, using the acronym for North Korea’s official name, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
Although North Korea had already been heavily sanctioned internationally for its nuclear weapons and long-range missile development programs, Washington’s announcement on July 6 was the first time Kim Jong Un has been personally sanctioned.
Less than a week later, Pyongyang cut off its final official means of communications with Washington — known as the New York channel. Han said Pyongyang has made it clear that everything between the two must now be dealt with under “war law.”
Katina Adams, State Department spokeswoman for East Asia and the Pacific, said the U.S. continues to call on North Korea “to refrain from actions and rhetoric that further destabilize the region and focus instead on taking concrete steps toward fulfilling its commitments and international obligations.”
She said the U.S.-South Korea joint military exercises are “defense-orientated” and have been carried out regularly and openly for roughly 40 years, and are designed to maintain stability on the Korean Peninsula. “These exercises are a clear demonstration of the U.S. commitment to the alliance,” she said.
South Korea’s unification, defense and foreign ministries did not immediately comment.
Kim and 10 others were put on the list of sanctioned individuals in connection with alleged human rights abuses, documented by the United Nations Human Rights Commission, that include a network of political prisons and harsh treatment of any kind of political dissent in the authoritarian state. U.S. State Department officials said the sanctions were intended in part to highlight those responsible for the abuses and to pressure lower-ranking officials to think twice before carrying them out.
Pyongyang denies abuse claims and says the U.N. report was based on fabrications gleaned from disgruntled defectors. Pointing to such things as police shootings of black Americans and poverty in even the richest democracies, it says the West has no moral high ground from which to criticize the North’s domestic political situation. It also says U.S. allies with questionable human-rights records receive less criticism.
Han took strong issue with the claim that it not the U.S. but Pyongyang’s continued development of nuclear weapons and missiles that is provoking tensions.
“Day by day, the U.S. military blackmail against the DPRK and the isolation and pressure is becoming more open,” Han said. “It is not us, it is the United States that first developed nuclear weapons, who first deployed them and who first used them against humankind. And on the issue of missiles and rockets, which are to deliver nuclear warheads and conventional weapons warheads, it is none other than the United States who first developed it and who first used it.”
He noted that U.S.-South Korea military exercises conducted this spring were unprecedented in scale, and that the U.S. has deployed the USS Mississippi and USS Ohio nuclear-powered submarines to South Korean ports, deployed the B-52 strategic bomber around South Korea and is planning to set up the world’s most advanced missile defense system, known by its acronym THAAD, in the South, a move that has also angered China.
Echoing earlier state-media reports, Han ridiculed Mark Lippert, the U.S. ambassador to South Korea, for a flight on a U.S. Air Force F-16 based in South Korea that he said was an action “unfit for a diplomat.”
“We regard that as the act of a villain, who is a crazy person,” Han said of the July 12 flight. “All these facts show that the United States is intentionally aggravating the tensions in the Korean Peninsula.”
Han warned that Pyongyang is viewing next month’s planned U.S.-South Korea exercises in this new context and will respond if they are carried out as planned.
“Nobody can predict what kind of influence this kind of vicious confrontation between the DPRK and the United States will have upon the situation on the Korean Peninsula,” he said. “By doing these kinds of vicious and hostile acts toward the DPRK, the U.S. has already declared war against the DPRK. So it is our self-defensive right and justifiable action to respond in a very hard way.”

“If the United States forces those kinds of large-scale exercises in August, then the situation caused by that will be the responsibility of the United States.”
Last year’s Ulchi Freedom Guardian exercises involved 30,000 American and 50,000 South Korean troops and followed a period of heightened animosity between the rival Koreas sparked by land mine explosions that maimed two South Korean soldiers. In the end, the exercises escalated tensions and rhetoric, but concluded with no major incidents.
Han dismissed calls for Pyongyang to defuse tensions by agreeing to abandon its nuclear program.
“In the view of cause and effect, it is the U.S. that provided the cause of our possession of nuclear forces,” he said. “We never hide the fact, and we are very proud of the fact, that we have very strong nuclear deterrent forces not only to cope with the United States’ nuclear blackmail but also to neutralize the nuclear blackmail of the United States.”

SONA 2016: Duterte eyes 'inter-agency committee' vs illegal drugs

03:09:00
I put at stake my honor, my life, and the presidency. I repeat: Do not do drugs,' says President Rodrigo Duterte

MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, July 25, announced the creation of an “inter-agency committee on illegal drugs” that he said would “integrate efforts” and improve the partnerships of stakeholders in his administration’s ongoing war against illegal drugs.
“I put at stake my honor, my life, and the presidency. I repeat: Do not do drugs,” said Duterte during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa. (LIVE: President Duterte's SONA 2016)
A full-blown campaign against illegal drugs, crime, and corruption was among Duterte’s key promises in the 2016 campaign.
To date, the anti-illegal drugs drive led by the Philippine National Police (PNP) has claimed the lives of close to 300 suspects and led to the arrest of over 3,700 suspects.
Duterte, who both read from a prepared speech and spoke off-the-cuff, said the anti-illegal drugs campaign will also “prioritize” the rehabilitation of surrendered drug users and “increase the number of residential treatment.”
Currently, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is the lead agency in government's efforts against illegal drugs.
According to data from the PNP, over 129,000 drug users and pushers have surrendered to police as of July 24. It’s a figure that’s overwhelmed existing drug rehabilitation facilities of most towns, cities, and provinces around the country.
PNP chief Director Ronald dela Rosa has suggested close monitoring by barangay (village) captains as a temporary fix to the lack of rehabilitation facilities around the country.
Duterte also reaffirmed his “unwavering support” for the police – so long as they do their jobs well. (READ: Duterte to PNP: ‘Do your duty and I will die for you’)
“Abuse your authority and there will be hell to pay,” said the President, who is known for his strong – and sometimes, controversial – views on crime and criminality.
The President had previously said that he would be the first to defend police and other law enforcement personnel should be encounter legal issues in their crusade against crime and illegal drugs.
No less than Solicitor General Jose Calida came to the PNP’s defense days after legislators announced plans to launch a legislative probe into alleged cases of summary killings during anti-illegal drugs police operations.
Duterte also called on the National Police Commission (Napolcom) to hasten its probe into administrative cases of police personnel.
Even before he formally started his term as president, police in some parts of the country had launched “Oplan Tukhang,” where cops knock on the doors of suspected drug users and pushers to convince them to stop.
While some sectors have praised the police for gains in the anti-illegal drugs campaign, they have also been criticized for the apparent rise in extrajudicial killings around the country.

Ada Lovelace: The First Computer Programmer

02:11:00
In a time when mathematics was “a man’s work,” Ada Lovelace was trained in aristocratic graces but pursued her passion for what later became computer science.
Many girls growing up in the aristocracy of Victorian-era London fantasized about dancing in elaborate ballrooms and marrying a favorable match. Ada Lovelace dreamed of building a flying machine.
She scoured periodicals for designs of new inventions, considering how a steam engine might power such a device, and studied the anatomy of birds to determine the proper proportion of wing length to body size to enable flight. Her design preceded Henson and Stringfellow’s patent for the aerial steam carriage by some 15 years.
She was only 12 at the time, but it was already clear that Lovelace would not stick to convention, eschewing science and mathematics, as women of her time were expected to do.
The daughter of philandering poet Lord George Gordon Byron and aristocratic Lady Anne Isabella Milbanke Byron, Lovelace did not follow in her father’s footsteps, as her mother feared she might. Instead, she found a language of her own and wrote the world’s first computer program, long before the advent of the first computer.
“Lovelace is a fascinating figure, not least because she made a huge leap when she foresaw the potential of a general purpose computing machine to create music or art,” said Suw Charman-Anderson, social technologist and founder of the annual international Ada Lovelace Day.
“She was so far ahead of her time that it seems none of her peers understood her vision.”
Breaking Free from Convention
Born in London on December 10, 1815, Augusta “Ada” Byron was the only legitimate daughter of the famous poet. However, Lord Byron was disappointed that the baby was not the “glorious boy”he expected. When his marriage failed, he left for Greece, never to return to England.
Lovelace was raised by her aristocratic mother and maternal grandmother, which is to say that she was raised primarily by nannies and tutors. Given the limited expectations for young women of the day, most girls were schooled in the arts and social graces.
Lady Byron, however, was intent that her daughter avoid nurturing any of her father’s “dangerous poetical tendencies” that might lurk in her DNA. She hired tutors to teacher her daughter mathematics and science.
Among Lovelace’s tutors were William Frend, a social reformer; William King, the family doctor; and Mary Somerville, a Scottish astronomer and mathematician who was one of the first women to be admitted into the Royal Astronomical Society.
From the start, Lovelace showed talent for mathematics and received encouragement. Even her absent father seemed to approve.
“I am told she is clever,” he once said. “But above all, I hope she is not poetical; the price paid for such advantages, if advantages they be, is such as to make me pray that my child may escape them.”
The Female Brain on Math
One of Lovelace’s teachers was Augustus de Morgan, a professor at the University of London who was interested in the emerging field of symbolic logic. Because women were not allowed to attend university, de Morgan agreed to teach Lovelace via correspondence.
He was conflicted by her talent and the potential hazards, since math was considered a man’s work. While he said that Lovelace had the potential to be “an original mathematical investigator, perhaps of first-rate eminence,” he was also worried that such weighty brainwork was, “beyond the strength of a woman’s physical power of application.”
Lovelace was undeterred.
“Ada was keen never to take ‘no’ for an answer,” said Anouk Wipprecht, a leading designer in today’s world of wearable technology and one of many contemporary computer scientists inspired by Lovelace. “This was especially important in her time, when woman were kept from any ‘male-mind’ kind of work.”
Lovelace’s determination paid off when, at age 17, she met Charles Babbage, an event that changed her life. Babbage, a mathematician and inventor, demonstrated a model of his difference engine, which was designed to perform mathematical calculations. Lovelace was fascinated and Babbage became Lovelace’s friend and mentor.
When, a few years later, Lovelace was asked to translate an article about another of Babbage’s invention designs, the analytical engine – essentially, an early mechanical computer – Lovelace obliged. The original article had been written in French by Italian engineer Luigi Menabrea.
Lovelace, who was fluent in French, not only translated the text into English, but took liberties in the process, adding copious annotations, including her own thoughts and ideas about the machine.
In these notes, which were three times as long as the original article, Lovelace described, step by step, how the machine could calculate a sequence of Bernoulli numbers.
“The analytical engine weaves algebraic patterns just as the Jacquard loom weaves flowers and leaves,” she wrote, describing the way it manipulated symbols, and enabled numbers to repeat and loop. concluding that the machine was capable of far more than mathematical calculations. It could, she believed, be used one day to create music or art.
The translated article, along with Lovelace’s notes, was published in an English science journal in 1843, roughly a century before the development of the modern computer.
“She took a path that no woman had taken before by questioning two theories and entities, then combining them,” said Wipprecht. “This led to groundbreaking formulas that are used in many of the machines we work with today.”
Ada’s Legacy
Though Lovelace’s article attracted little attention when she was alive, her work reemerged a century after her death when author B.Y. Bowden republished them in Faster than Thought, a history of computing in 1953.
Since then, Lovelace received numerous posthumous honors for her work, helping to inspire a new generation of women in STEM careers.
The U.S. Department of Defense named the computer language “Ada” after her. She is the subject of a Google doodle. And last year, on the 200th anniversary of her birth, the University of Oxford hosted a symposium in Lovelace’s honor, presenting recent research and information on her life and work, as well as linking her ideas to contemporary thinking about mathematics, computing and artificial intelligence.
Charman-Anderson created Ada Lovelace Day in 2009, as a way to celebrate Lovelace’s accomplishments, along with the achievements of all women working in technology.
In 2015, there were more than 150 independently organized Ada Lovelace Day events in more than 25 countries around the globe.
“Women still face a lot of challenges because of their gender, from glass ceilings to lower pay to dealing with everyday sexism,” said Charman-Anderson, who views Lovelace as a role model for change. “They need to see that their hard work surmounting these challenges is worth it and that success is possible.”
